We’ve long been fans of Ann Wood’s cake toppers and birds, so were thrilled to discover Ashley Anna Brown — her charming birds have a slightly rounder shape and come in a lovely palette of vintage fabrics. Perfect for cake toppers or just to have/covet!

thetreasuredpetal's Picture
Kristin Brancaleone, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA Vendor: Floral Designer Website: The Treasured Petal About Me: The Treasured Petal is a reflection of my love for scrumptious flowers, yummy textures, colors, ribbons, and all the other girly splurges that being a florist allows me to enjoy on a daily basis. Although I don't discriminate when it comes to flowers, my two favorites would have to be cattleya orchids and gloriosa lilies, which I carried in a ginormous bouquet on my wedding day. When I'm not crafting wedding florals and consulting with brides, I am usually at the dog park with my dogs Pesto and Basil, cooking healthy vegan dinners, watching Seinfeld with my husband Joe, at Bible study, or scouring craigslist for antique furniture to fill up my new house. I am also kind of a home-body and really love sipping tea in my pajamas while working my way down my google reader blog list!
About thetreasuredpetal

Ashlee and Brenton’s sweet June wedding was the embodiment of casual, effortless elegance. Actually, these adjectives just as well describe Ashlee, our lovely bride. At our first meeting Ashlee struck me as gentle, happy, and natural. Her wedding style just flowed forth from her personality, and we put together a design scheme centered around playful birds, feathers, nests, twigs, and lots of fun gardeny flowers. This wedding was not showy or glitzy, but intimate and full of rustic charm- perfect for her venue, the Talega Golf Club in San Clemente.

Their coordinator, Kerrie Underhill, is one of the hardest working gals in the biz. She orchestrated all the details of the day perfectly. She also makes a great vase commando when I come to pick up my rentals at the end of the night. Very rarely does a vase escape her watch. Thanks!

The talented Sarah K. Chen worked her magic once again. She has such a creative mind! The following images are from her newly designed blog.

Soft and dreamy, with pops of bright yellow and lime…

Candy Buffets

July 1st, 2009 @ 9:35 am by Sarah @ Parrott Design Studio

Hello! Does anyone else have visions of Amy Atlas candy buffets dancing in their heads this week? She has been everywhere and you can see why. My sister, Jess, and I cannot get this image out of our heads! My sister, who has a certain penchant for desserts, knew from the start of planning her wedding that she wanted a candy buffet. They seem to be wildly popular among brides now, and I think it a perfect that idea that can be made completely custom and one of a kind with special touches.

Could that really be a striped vase? Of course not. ;) Sometimes, when you can’t find the right colored vase to match your decor, you’ve got to create it on your own.

Today, I want to show you my trick to creating sweet and simple containers out of ribbons. For this vase you will need a very straight and simple votive glass that’s no taller than 3 inches. The key to this trick is to use a very straight glass. This won’t work if the glass is slightly tapered.

You will need:

  • 1 3-inch votive glass
  • 3-inch wide ribbon
  • 1-inch wide ribbon
  • Double-sided tape
  • Ribbon scissors

Make sure your glass is clean. Cut a 3 inch wide ribbon to fit exactly around the votive with a 1/4 inch hang. Using double sided tape, adhere the 3-inch wide ribbon to the votive. Then cut a 1-inch wide ribbon and adhere to glass using double-sided tape. Voila, you’ve just created your own vase.

Insider’s tip: The trick to making this vase pretty is to use non-wired ribbon. Also, I find that an inexpensive acetate works well too, just cut the ends very straight. Using a high quality ribbon scissor is the best. Also, when I make an arrangement in these tiny votive cups, I put a little piece of Oasis inside so that way no water spills over and ruins the ribbon.

Good luck!

About Kate Parker @ Kate Parker Weddings

One of our June brides is having her reception at a farm in Southern Maine called Laudholm Farm. We are creating an earthy and organic style with a muted color pallete, naturally composed floral arrangements and touches of burlap. The flowers we will be incorporating are: white hydrangea, mini green hydrangea, white peonies, cream garden roses, white and purple anemones, white and green ranunculus, star of Bethlehem, and fresh lavender. We are custom staining and distressing two different sizes of wooden boxes for the flower vessels. We’ll be using wide-mouthed mason jars with dahlias and anemones for the cocktail hour as well.

Take a look at the images below to get an idea of the reception centerpieces and table design! Something Sweet by Michelle will be creating the cake, a linen hem-stitched themed design, complete with her incredible and impossible-to-copy sugar flowers. The reception tent will be provided by Sperry Tents Seacoast, so we know it will look fantastic! We’ll post more inspiration images from our other weddings as we get closer to them!

Jessie Blum @ Eclectic Unions's Picture
Jessie Blum, New Jersey Vendor: Officiant Website: Eclectic Unions About Me: I began writing & officiating wedding ceremonies in 2008, and love every single moment of it. It all started when my best friend asked me to officiate her Jewish/Lutheran/Pagan (but completely non-religious!) wedding - since then, I've found a love and passion for creating original wedding ceremonies that truly reflect the couples being married. Wedding ceremonies should be all about the bride & groom's love, relationship, and commitment, and I do my best to make sure everything is just perfect! I live in Northern New Jersey with my fiance and our two kitties, and, when I'm not meeting with my awesome couples or writing wedding ceremonies, I love to knit, obsessively check my email, and plan my own wedding (Oct 2010!).

Thanks to Style Me Pretty and Jose Villa Wedding Photography for posting these gorgeous pics of a rehearsal dinner designed by Alison Events, for which we created the menus. The wedding was relocating from Mexico to the Parker Palm Springs at the last minute, but Alison maintained the Mexican spirit with this simple, beautiful design. We designed and printed the menus in just 2 days (it can be done - and it’s up there with the time we flew to Nice, France to deliver a seating chart to a client - yes, we take customer service seriously!)
