Flush Designs, PasadenaVendor: Invitations, Event & Floral Design, PhotographyWebsite: Flush DesignsAbout Me: Flush Designs is run and owned by me, Courtney C. Keefe de Jauregui. It is all encompassing, from the custom & handmade invitations seen at my website, to full exploration in event styling and design, to flower arranging, to playing sidekick and second shooter to my husband's wedding photography. I am working on becoming a wedding "One stop shop". :) I am a graduate in fine art painting, but a self taught graphic designer. As I still needed to get my hands dirty, I started taking letterpress classes, thus becoming my new love. When I am not busy working (usually still in my pajamas) and telling myself to remember to buy a new chair (this one hurts), I am singing to my 3 cats and enjoying a cold pint with my husband at our favorite local Irish pub. Maybe it's in the reverse order. :)
Yeah!! Finally, my table top is on Once Wed. Emily was waiting to showcase it on her new and improved blog so I have been dying with anticipation for the last 4 months waiting for the post. I began to almost think she wasn’t going to post it. But not the case! you can view the post here.
Here is a description and item purchase list!
This table top once again utilizes the basics given at a venue. The round table, the white table cloth and basic white dishes. I wanted to have a fun table top that incorporates a worldly traveler’s home office or study - lots of books, fun vintage cameras, maps or globes, and the perfect low-ball glass for that night cap. I wanted a look that was masculine but with feminine touches - white fluffy flowers but with leather napkin rings. The color palette was consistent of a soft and muted look, so there was nothing overpowering each other. I also had to add owls and pom poms just to give it a little quirkiness. I covered the white table cloth with mosquito netting to give some texture and some loose flowing drape to it and soften it with texture. I’m picturing the invitation to this fun and studious wedding would be shaped and written like an old manuscript, very simple with a typewriter font with old vintage maps for envelope liners. So fun.
Sarah Parrott, Rhode IslandVendor: Invitation DesignerWebsite: Parrott Design StudioAbout Me: I am the designer & printer behind Parrott Design Studio, specializing in custom letterpress and screen printed wedding and event invitations, stationery, and paper goods. With a background in non-profit marketing & art history, I began the studio in 2006 in my small apartment in Providence, RI. Since then I have moved to a studio built my fiancé, acquired a Golding Jobber letterpress, & have been happily printing ever since. I grew up in Portland, Maine, and I have always had an affinity for the ocean, mountains, birds, gardening, & the simple life. When I am not printing, I can be found somewhere outside with my fiancé & playful pup.
Several Saturdays ago, we threw my sister a surprise bridal shower. It has been months in the making with my mom and I busy behind the scenes, including multiple secret trips to Portland, Maine {where I am from, where my parents and sister live, and where the shower was}.
My sister’s July wedding colors are black, white, pink, and green. The wedding does not have a theme, but elements Jess would like to harmoniously combine including hydrangeas, lighthouses, and…peacock feathers -all with a vintage twist. The peacock feathers will come into play for the wedding invitation and reception decor, but for now we focused on hydrangeas for the invitations and lighthouses for the centerpieces for the bridal shower. The invitations were letterpress in a fabulously bright pink on fluorescent white Lettra paper with coordinating envelopes. I knew her fiance would not want pink envelopes for the wedding invitation so now was my chance to get girlie.
After two months of keeping these a secret from Jess, I was finally able to show them to her and she loved them {and understands why I did not want to use hydrangeas on her wedding invitation}!

Almost all of our clients want to personalize something for their wedding, and there are a couple of ways to do this. Of course, just really thinking out the details is a way to personalize your wedding. Picking some appetizers that you enjoyed as a kid, or an entree that you ate when your fiance proposed are two subtle ways to personalize a wedding. Using your favorite color or overall sense of style is another great way, one that more people will usually pick up on.
Then there is the literal personalization of items for your wedding, and there are a lot of options to work with. Personalizing items you will be using during the actual wedding is a great way to “brand” your event. Monograms, your wedding date, first names are all great icons that can be applied to almost anything: cocktail napkins, top of your menus, favor tags or stickers, a large decal or gobo image on your dance floor, or even a design on your cake. Then there are the things that you give to your guests that they will keep forever, or at least you hope they do.
Personalizing something that is taken out of the context of your wedding event isn’t always the best idea, as your guests don’t usually want to use something that has someone else’s name on it. Classic example would be the engraved picture frame with your name and wedding date on it for your place card holder. People don’t really have a need for a frame that is smaller than a 3 x 5, but then to have someone else’s name and date on it really limits its usability. If they had a photo taken of themselves at your wedding and wanted to display that they certainly could, but I can’t really think of another reason to use it. Etched candle holders with your wedding date is another passe idea, candle holders in general tend not to be too great of an option. If you’re having a welcome basket or bag, personalizing the welcome letter is a great idea to help start the branding process, but personalizing the bag itself is costly and usually not as pleasing for your guests.

These Marquee Alphabet Lights from Urban Outfitters would be great for wedding decor for a modern or carnival-inspired wedding, and they even have a convenient “&” symbol for initials or “Mr. & Mrs.” etc. At $178 a letter it’s a bit of an investment, but these would make great home decor after the big day!

Lanterns are a great way to decorate your wedding pews. They’re simple, but in low light they create such a wonderful ambiance. Simply use ribbon to attach them to the wedding pews.
Here are a few pictures of lanterns adorning wedding pews.

Sometimes, it really isn’t the flowers that can change the look of a wedding but the linens, lighting, decor and possibly the “containers”.
To begin, we chose to do a classic, garden arrangement of seasonal flowers like hydrangea, lisianthus, godetia, stock, peonies, imported roses, garden roses and textural foliage. We stuck with a neutral palette of salmon pinks, coral pinks, green, soft whites, peach pinks, and strawberry. We kept the shape simple -a round, dome.
Next we photographed the same arrangement in 4 different containers. Each one was distinctively different in width, height and overall style.
The four choices were:
Contemporary, Taupe Ceramic
Sexy, Glamorous, Black Wallpaper-printed Glass
Vintage, Old World Chocolate Urn
Updated Classic Glass Compote
You can see that by changing one element, which in this case was simply the container, the arrangement took on a slight and subtle variation.
Llubav Choy Duerr, BrooklynVendor: Accessories DesignerWebsite: Llubav Co.About Me: Combining my personal aesthetic of art as a visual feast, a background in textile design, and a love for fashion, I created Llubav Co. with the aim of brightening up your day. I use Hungarian wool felt, American wool, linen, filigree, and vintage embellishments to produce ring pillows, stationery and fashion accessories that are as unique, vibrant and colorful as my Latin American upbringing. I live and create in Brooklyn, and I have two beautiful guys in my life -- my husband Chris and our baby son Mikus.
I went to see the Macy’s Flower Show a couple of weeks ago. I love their window displays! All the windows along 34th Street between Broadway and 7th Ave, had flowers made out of paper by an incredibly talented lady, Eloise Corr Danch (who is also a FIT grad). This young lady made hundreds of flowers in different colors and shapes and gave each window its own uniqueness. I’m a sucker for all things handmade, and these flowers were truly beautiful. I can’t imagine all the work that went into them.
The show was pretty neat. They had different gardens with flowers coming from all over — a Mexican garden, Hawaiian garden, Florida garden, etc. All of them were very pretty.
