I'm positively drooling with excitement! Jennifer and Mark's wedding at Cieba del Mar in Puerto Moreles, Mexico, was pretty amazing. Seriously. I drooled. All the way back home, feverishly editing photos on the plane until my battery died, and then I was sad. I got home only just hours ago, and I just can't seem to stop!
It was so wonderful to hang out with this family again, and getting to know Jennifer and Mark even better. We began the weekend with a catamaran cruise out of Puerto Aventuras and a rehearsal dinner back at Cieba. Naomi (my trusty roommate/best friend/studio manager) did get a little sea sick:

I officially have a new favorite wedding site…Three Points Ranch in Texas. There are such beautiful and unique details about this place like the airstream camp which provides a place for the bride to get ready. I love airstreams, and I just think this is so unique, not to mention a great place to shoot photos. The ceremony site itself is stunning, and the dining barn is just too perfect. Check out these photos from the Three Points Ranch website below:

Lyndsay and Andrew were chosen as one of two couples for a destination wedding promotion through Weddingbee from a couple of years ago (the second couple had their wedding in Jamaica).
Worth noting, Lyndsay and Andrew were scheduled to have their wedding at another resort which has been under renovation for some time. They were promised it would be ready for their nuptials (you see where this is going…). A month before the wedding, they flew from their home in Baltimore to Florida to have one final look and it was disastrous - no waitstaff, no liquor license- no kitchen! Not even door knobs into the ballroom! Luckily, they were able to secure Beachside, a glorious new resort that had just opened (the hotel rooms are high-end condos).
On to the pictures (there are a lot of them!)…
Lyndsay and her very fun mom Lana, had their hair done at a very sweet beauty/clothing shop in town. The experience, unfortunately, was unsatisfactory so I am not going to post the name.

With all of this talk about fairy inspired, whimsical, forest fairy tale weddings, I thought this location would be the perfect spot for one of these weddings. I was absolutely in love when I saw the Tsala Treetop Lodge. There are suites that are among the treetops of the South African jungle, and no trees were harmed in the process!

The restaurant, called Zinzi, meaning abundance, looks amazing. But one of my favorite features is the custom picnics they offer. They will help plan your perfect picnic, fancy or casual whatever you wish. Oh how I would love to be transported here right now. And imagine this as the backdrop to a fabulous wedding! WOW!!
We took a little trip to the South back in April for our friends, Grace and Aaron's, wedding. And even though I can't share pictures of the wedding, because it will be featured in the next Martha Stewart's Weddings magazine (totally worth the wait!), I can share one neat idea they did for their out-of-town guests.
The wedding took place in Savannah — a place with lots of beauty and interesting dark history. Our friends booked a trolley tour for all of us out-of-town guests to enjoy the morning before the wedding. My hubby and I usually prefer exploring new places by asking the locals and doing a lot of walking, but this tour was a fantastic gift that we will never forget. Not only were we able to see the majority of the historic town squares — which surely would have resulted in many blisters and maybe even an argument or two had we tried on to do it by foot — but we learned so much more about Savannah's history from our very funny trolley driver/guide. What a fun way to have your guests mingle before they see each other on the dance floor!
I have way too many pictures, but here are some highlights of the tour. Enjoy!!

I have been seeing these luxury tent locations popping up all over the place. I can't help but think what an amazing wedding location one of these would be. Having all the guests stay at the property -a very unique destination wedding! This first place I stumbled upon over at the amazing Wide Open Spaces blog. Clayoquot Wildnerness Retreat looks absolutely amazing! From gourmet food, to plush tents and fun outdoor spaces that I can already see the cocktail hour happening at…

I can't wait to share more about destination weddings, but before I do that I'm thrilled to announce that couples who are planning a destination wedding finally have their own planner and resource guide.
Alison Hotchkiss, one of the most talented and resourceful event planners, has written a wedding planner just for couples who are planning a destination wedding. When I think of someone who really knows her stuff about a destination wedding, I instantly think of Alison. In fact, when we bumped into each other over the winter, I asked her about planning events in Mexico, and she shared her vast knowledge of the complications and challenges with me.
Her book, Destination Wedding Planner by Chronicle Books hit bookstores in mid March. If you happen to be planning a destination wedding, this wonderful resource is the perfect planner with resourceful tips and appropriate insights.
Thank you Alison for sharing this with our readers!

Hola! I was in Mexico recently, enjoying the sun and the wonderful sites. As many of you know, I love a great wedding and especially a destination one.
During my research vacation, I have been working on tips for couples who are planning a destination wedding, but I never had any idea that I would actually witness a wedding or that I would have the honor to meet Sarah, the gregarious and bubbly bride who got married at the hotel where KC and I were staying.
Sarah is definitely someone into the details, but for her Mexico destination wedding she learned quite a bit about what really worked for her and her fiance, Charles. Mixing some of her sage advice, I wanted to share with you some of her wedding tips and images. You will love the simplicity of the wedding that embraces the beauty of the venue and the heart of this couple!
Wedding Tips for Planning a Destination Wedding from Sarah and Charles:
1) Go Native - Sarah and Charles are New Yorkers, and are foodies who have discerning palettes. Although they could have gone with a traditional 4 course dinner for their wedding reception, they opted for local Mexican cuisine because it was cost effective and more important - festive and entertaining.

I wanted to showcase some invitations that we have created for brides that had a definite vision. Whether it be actual imagery, or simply a style or mood, invitations are a great way to set the stage for your event.

This invitation suite was created for a bride and groom who had a passion for peacocks. They loved the idea of having some sort of peacock imagery, but definitely didn’t want it too literal. Above is the result. We used a peacock feather swirl pattern throughout; combined with classic typography, the graphics really stood center stage. The design was continued on the envelope, which has become our signature touch. We utilize the envelopes as a canvas to complement what is inside.
