I was SO stoked that Namrata chose to come to our session in Indian dress. We almost missed the light, but managed to catch the dusk at my favorite riverside park!
The lovely Claudine + David were referred to me by Angel Swanson from Events of Love and Splendor, so of course I was ecstatic when they wanted to book us! For one, any client of Angel's is already a sweet client in our eyes and for two, we love any chance we can get to work with Angel as she and her fab sidekick sister Ana “bring it” to every event that they coordinate!

It was one of my favorite sessions in Brooklyn. I'll be returning to Maui to shoot Allison and Scott's wedding in the mystical lands of Hana. I am always excited, but getting to do an engagement session when I haven't gotten to meet the couple first, well, I planned it this way, but it just astounds me sometime how much I love my clients. The people that hire me, even the people who I don't meet when they hire me, we always seem to just mesh.
We took a stroll around their ‘hood in Brooklyn, it was so relaxed and casual and just plain fun. Hahaha, at one point I had them chase geese while holding hands, running and screaming. I had hoped to get the geese to take off, but I forgot that we are in New York City. And even the local animals (Canadian Geese, mind you) are SO New York. They merely waddled calmly away, and left us all with the giggles. After I hung out at their place for a while, and we spoke of our love for our dear kitties. Kitties are a force in this world that unite people, and I enjoyed every moment of my time with this gorgeous, amazing, stylish, fun couple of people. To Maui!!

This is a special one. Usually, I'd have to break into a place like this to get these pictures, but we actually got full permission to do it. William had to jump through so many hoops to find the right “guy” in charge and I'm so glad that he was determined, because it was seriously one of the best spots to do engagement photography in. Now if only I was able to do a wedding shoot here!
Sorry for the secretive nature of this post, but the owners requested that we don't post their location. For you savvy local folk, I'm sure you'll know this elusive photography spot. Thanks Aubrey, for coming out to shoot with me. You did an amazing job tag teaming them with me!

Janene and Eduardo. I love love.
Betty and Kent became some of my favorite people after just a couple of minutes. Since they live in the far off land of Honolulu, we had no choice but to do the engagement session the day before the wedding. I love the Big Island, and with the jetlag I couldn't sleep after 5am and drove around the whole island scouting for 6 hours before we finally met up! After finding so many great locations, it turns out that the best part of shooting the day after session was at Puakea Ranch.
This was the day before.
What do you do when you don't want to do what you did before? You do what you gotta do and do it in style. Here's the classic San Francisco engagement photography with slightly different twists. April and Lennon, you have fun with your wedding in Hong Kong!

Melissa + Bryan are works of art, literally! I was super drawn to them when I first met them months back at our consultation meeting. I loved their style, look, and attitude. When we were planning their engagement session, I was super excited because I had been waiting for the perfect couple that would fit a specific location I had been eyeing for a while now. We made our way to one of the many abandoned farm houses in Chino. Melissa + Bryan definitely were the best for this location look and feel. I had a crazy hard time narrowing down the images for this post, so I'm posting more than usual for an engagement session, but I truly am in love with the session as an overall work of art.
Heather + John were our first couple that booked for 2010, so I definitely feel like they are good luck in a way! We talked specifics over the phone and then met them for the first time at their engagement session on the campus of Chapman University. I really loved working with pillars, stairs, and… the library!
Demese + Robert were uber-fabulous to work with. We shot their portrait session in San Francisco a few weeks ago at the Palace of Fine Arts. We fell in love with this location the last time we were in San Francisco, and had to take advantage of it one more time. The best part of this sitting (alongside Demese + Robert of course!) was all of the natural light that created awesome sun-glare and sweet shadows for us to play around with.
