James + Shanti hired us to shoot their engagement photos before the head back to their roots at the end of this month to tie the knot in Indonesia. Since they hired us via email, the first time I met James + Shanti was on the day of our shoot, and this always makes me feel a little anxious because I never know what to expect. Well, any expectations that I had were exceeded by this sweet, quiet, and loving couple.

You may remember Tiffany and Jared. Well, Jennifer, Tiffany’s sister, and Mark, her man, got engaged just days after Tiffany’s Jamaica wedding. I’m so excited and honored they chose me as their photographer. I’ll also be shooting their wedding in the Riviera Maya in a couple of weeks! Time flies!!
Their union, last Monday, was a perfect example of the extremely efficient process of getting hitched in New York City. I was supposed to meet them in the morning. But it turned out that they forgot to get the marriage license! Whoops! So the first item on the list was to take a number, and Mark’s sister was kind enough to wait in line for our number to be called while we went around and took some photos. Then it turned out that they had to petition to a judge at the courthouse next door to get married on that day, because Mark’s sister was in town from Chicago, so they wouldn’t have to wait the mandatory 24 hour period. And so, while I took a nap sitting up in City Hall Park (I was a little tired - I had just shot Cailen and Sean’s engagement session that morning and had woken up at 5a.m.), they managed to get everything taken care of in a surprisingly short amount of time. And as cranky and cold as many New York City officials can be, you really have to hand it to them that they run a tight ship -a tight, and cranky ship. ![]()
In any case, it was great to get out with these lovely folks - and I’ll be shooting their wedding on Fourth of July weekend, and I’m so stoked to see Tiffany and Jared again, and to hang out with their lovely and fashionably well dressed family!

First of all, Cailen and Sean are great sports. They flew in from Chicago for their engagement session, and with a limited window we were able to make do with a (sort of) sunrise session last Monday morning. Unfortunately, when they arrived at my place at 6 a.m., there was a downpour so torrential that I wasn’t sure I could make do, and so we decided to start the day off at my local diner for breakfast, with the hopes that the skies would clear. I was so glad to share the early morning with these two lovely people that Husbone and I will be spending a lot of time with, when we shoot their wedding at her uncle’s amazing chateau in France this September. And ok, France is my favorite country, and I’m pretty much having seizures of excitement that we get to shoot a wedding there. And now, I think I might toss my cookies because I’m so excited that Cailen and Sean are up for my vintage inspired day-after shoot through the wiles of France!!
And now I’m tossing my cookies, having seizures and passing out while doing jumping jacks with excitement, that these two are so amazingly awesome, in love and fantastic, and will be so in my favorite country, as I take pictures beside my favorite person (that would be Husbone!). So yeah. Awesome. ![]()

We first learned of Lara + Tim’s existence when we received a sweet email from Lara inquiring about our wedding photography services. The thing that drew us first to them was the way that Lara described her and Tim’s relationship. Simply put:
"We are a very comical and loving couple and want someone to capture our special day!"
We were delighted when they decided to hire us right after our initial consultation with them!
Lara + Tim invited us shoot their engagement session in Marina Del Rey. Since they are both avid sailors, it was a perfect location that put them in an environment that they were both comfortable and natural in. We started at the beach and then headed over to the marina where we went aboard a boat that Tim looks after and sails as well. Introducing Lara + Tim!

Another fun session by Aubrey and Blake. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of those places where shooting inside is pretty challenging. You’ve got the dim lighting and crowds of people. They almost make it look easy!

We’ve been so swamped with work as the busy summer wedding season kicks into full swing. That means our blogging is a little neglected right now. But we’ve got some fun shoots lined up for you all. ![]()
Steve and Alice were gracious enough to host us at their place in Boston for their engagement shoot. We got an up and close personal view into their lives. Steve is doing his residency as a doctor while Alice gets to play scientist all day at work. I think they enjoyed their time off from their intense work life to go out and play with us.

I had so much fun with Jessica and Moshe the other night that I could have forgotten to return home, had the Husbone not called me away. We did our shoot at the Brooklyn Museum, which is gorgeously amazing!!!
Maria + Alvin are a sweet couple that found us all the way from San Francisco! In fact, we will be shooting their wedding at the beginning of August there. They made a trip down to SoCal and booked an engagement session with us, and since they were in San Diego we decided to shoot at Balboa Park. There is something that most photographers love about this location, for me I feel like it brings out my romantic side. I really felt like it fit Maria + Alvin very well.
I met Caroline and Sung Ho in my favorite part of Brooklyn, an interlude of work in the midst of my minimoon with the Husbone, who had just returned from an epic 6 week journey across England. Caroline and Sung Ho turned out to be pretty much the easiest people to photograph ever, and then the evening made way to reveal itself as a double date over drinks and great conversation. I am so enamored with these two very lovely people, and for all that we have in common. I’m happy I met them. I was also lucky enough to have been chosen by Sung Ho’s amazing sister for her wedding too, and I can’t wait to hang with everyone again in June!
Lately, I’ve been going on an urban photo safari kick. Meagan and Sperry were up for anything and anywhere for their session, which is my favorite type of shoot. We basically drove down the street and stopped by all the cool and interesting spots my eye could catch. I love doing this, because they all the spots are unique and full of cool textures.
It was a fun engagement session with them, but I think Lulu stole the show. I can rant on all day about why I like dogs and pets in photos, but I think it’s best to let the pics do that for me. Lulu was a star!
