Almost all of our clients want to personalize something for their wedding, and there are a couple of ways to do this. Of course, just really thinking out the details is a way to personalize your wedding. Picking some appetizers that you enjoyed as a kid, or an entree that you ate when your fiance proposed are two subtle ways to personalize a wedding. Using your favorite color or overall sense of style is another great way, one that more people will usually pick up on.
Then there is the literal personalization of items for your wedding, and there are a lot of options to work with. Personalizing items you will be using during the actual wedding is a great way to “brand” your event. Monograms, your wedding date, first names are all great icons that can be applied to almost anything: cocktail napkins, top of your menus, favor tags or stickers, a large decal or gobo image on your dance floor, or even a design on your cake. Then there are the things that you give to your guests that they will keep forever, or at least you hope they do.
Personalizing something that is taken out of the context of your wedding event isn't always the best idea, as your guests don't usually want to use something that has someone else's name on it. Classic example would be the engraved picture frame with your name and wedding date on it for your place card holder. People don't really have a need for a frame that is smaller than a 3 x 5, but then to have someone else's name and date on it really limits its usability. If they had a photo taken of themselves at your wedding and wanted to display that they certainly could, but I can't really think of another reason to use it. Etched candle holders with your wedding date is another passe idea, candle holders in general tend not to be too great of an option. If you're having a welcome basket or bag, personalizing the welcome letter is a great idea to help start the branding process, but personalizing the bag itself is costly and usually not as pleasing for your guests.

A while ago, I got my hands on the Martha Stewart Wedding Book that is filled to the brim with gorgeous photos, recipes, and techniques. This book is a definite buy for anyone who is into cakes, party planning, or weddings. I would highly recommend it! One of the photos in the book caught my attention because it was so adorably cute, and yet seemed easy at the same time -it was the mini brownie wedding cakes. Martha did a variety of designs on her brownie wedding cakes, so be sure to check the photos out in the book, but since I have been crunched for time lately I went with my favorite look and called it a day. These would make great wedding favors or a yummy bridal shower dessert. You could even ditch the wedding idea and throw a candle on top and use them as mini birthday cakes; the ideas are endless. Anyways, I hope you try these at home because they really are a ton of fun and are definitely worth the little time and effort you put into them.

One year ago, I was hunting for vintage cigarette machines on Ebay. I had big plans. I wanted to make my very own version of an “Art-o-mat” to distribute my wee paintings.
What is an Art-o'mat?
Growing up, some of my favorite times were making peanut butter balls with my grandma. I knew that if I was spending the night at her house, this fun (and delicious) project would be #1 on my list of things to do. I have since passed on my great love of peanut butter balls to my little brother, so when I was babysitting him for the weekend he quickly requested that we make them. Of course I couldn't pass up an opportunity to munch on some of my favorite goodies, so I decided to have my nieces spend the night too and let them get in on the baking fun.

Who doesn't like chocolate dipped strawberries?! Well, the answer that pops up in my head is “No one!” So you can see why I was so excited to get a wedding order from one of my brides to do chocolate-dipped tuxedo and wedding dress strawberries. Now of course, after dipping 110 of them my excitement dwindled a little - but once they were all bagged up and ready to go, the excitement came back. ![]()
Now, these wedding favors are definitely a show stopper and very fun for your guests since they get instant gratification once they sink their teeth into these beauties. These favors are pricey, but relatively easy to do. Hopefully this post will open your eyes to the world of chocolate-dipped strawberries and help you realize that you can do it too!

When I shared my ideas for fun eco-friendly wedding favors a while back, I was excited to get some great feedback, including an email from our designer, Beth Ann, when she saw the post. Beth Ann worked with one of our Bella Figura brides, Stewart, a while back on letterpress favor tags to include with the tree saplings they were giving as favors at their wedding. Stewart was delighted to share a photo of her favors with Weddingbee readers, and shared with me the wonderful inspiration behind their fabulous wedding favors.

As an earth-loving company, we love to see couples incorporating eco-friendly elements, large and small, into their weddings, so I wanted to share some of my favorite ideas for eco-friendly wedding favors. At Bella Figura we recognize and appreciate that every small effort counts, so I really love these ideas for expressing appreciation to your loved ones while helping to limit the waste that might be generated by other more traditional wedding favors.

I love the idea of using potted herbs in cool containers to serve as both centerpieces and guest wedding favors. Not only is the look completely pretty and the fragrance sure to be delightful, but you’re working to reduce waste all around as there is no packaging to be discarded and no centerpieces left to go to waste.

In a post long ago I included this rough doodle of a fun idea to display escort cards:

Each guest would have a teeny tiny container filled with their own special arrangement. It would be an escort card and wedding favor in one. I just love all things tiny. Well, the incredible calligrapher Lisa of Pen and Ink saw the sketch and thought my idea should be brought to life. She offered her help and promptly sent me beautifully scripted escort cards to use for my mini-baby project. Thanks so much, Lisa!
At the flower mart, I scooped up some yellow daffodils, acacia, navy blue privet berries, spray roses, billy balls and delicate lily of the Nile. I purchased tiny flower pots (about 1.5 inches tall), lined them with cellophane (water tends to leak through the terra cotta pots leaving discoloration) and stuffed them with a bit of wet floral foam. I then created mini arrangements with the cutesy spring flowers. These would be adorable in mossy boxes, as shown, or at each place setting.
I designed these cookie favors for a wedding at the New York Botanical Garden, and I was so pleased with the way they came out, I just had to share.
