About Sarah @ Parrott Design Studio

I am really excited & super proud to present my 2010 limited edition letterpress calendar. It has been a few months in the making, and I am so pleased at the final product. I am so happy I took the leap and decided to letterpress the entire calendar.

About Sarah @ Parrott Design Studio

I recently had the great privilege to work with Caroline, the talented owner and designer of Paloma’s Nest. Caroline strives to create modern heirlooms that will be cherished for generations, most notably her ring bearer bowl. Each piece is hand cut, free form, with no pattern, giving each piece its own variation in the size, shape, and layout of the text. I love that you can see her hand in each piece, making each one unique. Though she works with clay and I work with paper, I believe we have a very similar aesthetic and artistic process, which is one of the many reasons why I am so drawn to her work. That and I just love her work!

Caroline worked with Creative Shift Design for the design of her new business cards, which came out so lovely! Caroline wanted the impression on the cards to mimic the look of her stamped ceramic work, so I letterpress printed them on super-thick 220 lb. 100% cotton paper in fluorescent white. I hand-fed each of the 1,000 cards through my press three times – once for the nest and eggs, which is a deep blind-deboss {no ink}, second for the website in gold ink, and third for the remainder of the text in black ink.

Set Sail Wedding Invitations

September 14th, 2009 @ 10:30 am by Sarah @ Parrott Design Studio

Sometimes a week just slips right by, especially when I am trying to get projects out the door.  As a follow up to my recent letterpress post, here is the final product!  John, the groom, was a friend from college {go PC!}. He and Kelly were both on the sailing team and still love to sail so it was only natural their wedding would be inspired by the sea. They are getting married at the chapel on PC’s campus followed by a reception at the Conanicut Yacht Club.

Hello!  I hope you had a fun, long weekend.  While I did get some relaxation in with a little camping trip, I spent a lot of the weekend printing.  The wedding invitations I am printing are for friends.  They were interested in seeing the letterpress process, so I took a few photos and decided to share them with you!

I mix of all of my inks by hand using the Pantone Matching System {PMS}. This specific blue is PMS7459 which actually corresponds with Paper Source’s Lake.

Last week was a busy, but great week. Despite having a mid-week birthday celebration, I printed four wedding invitation suites, two of which were letterpress. These invitations are off to the happy couple in Canada. They are getting married at a ski resort this autumn and wanted something casual and fun for their invitation. They love vintage travel posters {me too!} especially this one designed by Gruppe Gut for the Cortina Ski Resort in Italy. I created a new custom illustration to better reflect the silhouettes of the couple, made their gloves into hands, and gave them shoes instead of ski boots {since the wedding is in Autumn and there will be no snow}. I loved the bride’s idea behind having a chairlift on her invitation. She believes it represents her and her fiance as they embark on a new journey in life together. Very sweet. These invitations were letterpress printed in two colors on coasters. The front side featured the illustration in navy ink with a bold orange border which also features their names and wedding date. On the backside is the text inviting people to the wedding. They chose not to have an RSVP and asked people to email them instead. Each coaster will be tucked inside a square envelope with their return address printed on the back flap.

This invitation gets me excited for snowboarding…sort of. I love Autumn! Once my birthday has come and gone I am always okay for the weather to start getting a bit cooler and for the leaves to start changing! Enjoy your week!

Courtney @ Flush Designs's Picture
Flush Designs, Pasadena Vendor: Invitations, Event & Floral Design, Photography Website: Flush Designs About Me: Flush Designs is run and owned by me, Courtney C. Keefe de Jauregui. It is all encompassing, from the custom & handmade invitations seen at my website, to full exploration in event styling and design, to flower arranging, to playing sidekick and second shooter to my husband's wedding photography. I am working on becoming a wedding "One stop shop". :) I am a graduate in fine art painting, but a self taught graphic designer. As I still needed to get my hands dirty, I started taking letterpress classes, thus becoming my new love. When I am not busy working (usually still in my pajamas) and telling myself to remember to buy a new chair (this one hurts), I am singing to my 3 cats and enjoying a cold pint with my husband at our favorite local Irish pub. Maybe it's in the reverse order. :)
About Courtney @ Flush Designs

Nothing dirty about it. Well I suppose the dirt itself is…. but leave that to them. Susan Moffett single handedly turns your tired backyard (or front) into a oasis of beauty, casual living , and stylish rustic tranquility. I had a grand time designing her logo and business cards to represent her whimsical landscaping business. Although we are currently growing her website, you should check it out anyways. This card is 3 color letterpress on chipboard printed by no other then my favorite company Spark.

I think one of the first things my sister knew she wanted for her wedding were coasters that said, “Eat, Drink, be Married.” When it came time to decide whether she and her now-husband wanted favors or not, I suggested using the coasters not only for the reception, but for favors as well.

Cynthia @ Bella Figura's Picture
Cynthia Converse, Syracuse, NY Vendor: Invitations Website: Bella Figura About Me: Bella Figura is a wind-powered, eco-friendly letterpress shop committed to the fine artisanship of letterpress printing and the environment. Along with our sister company, Smock, we print our wedding invitations and stationery on only the finest luxury cotton and bamboo papers to ensure the most beautiful of prints in sight and to the touch, while working tirelessly to do our little piece for the good of the earth. We are hopelessly in love with our abundant collection of cast iron presses, farmer's markets, fall in Upstate NY, creating beautiful heirlooms for our brides, businesses that do good for the world, calligraphy, spending time in nature, contributing to the greater letterpress community, our rambling studios in a converted warehouse turned artist's haven, and our two year old in residence. Turning invitations into art on paper while dedicating ourselves to the environment is not what we do, it's who we are.
About Cynthia @ Bella Figura

When you’re surrounded by incredible letterpress creations every day, choosing your own letterpress wedding invitations becomes difficult -really, really difficult. There were moments during that time when I joked about wanting to send each of our guests a different invitation, just so I could see all of my different ideas in print. After much debate, with the help of our amazing client coordinator, Tiffany, and our equally amazing graphic designer, Beth Ann, I was able to settle on our Keswick design in Mediterranean and pale gray inks. The entire process was incredibly exciting, but nothing topped the day I finally got to hold them in my hands. They’re absolutely stunning and you can bet we’ll have a set framed to hang in our house after the wedding. :-)

About Courtney @ Flush Designs

As promised, here are some paper products!!! I just finished designing this save the date for my dearest friend. Their wedding is going to be in December in the beautiful setting of Whistler, British Columbia. She is a very elegant girl but wants a soft whimsical feel to her wedding. What better way to say soft and whimsical?! With some stitching of course. :-) And how could I resist a little berry love for a winter December wedding!?

This is double sided with their monogram on the front and the save the date on the back. Her colors are grey and eggplant, with of course some beautiful lavender brought in later. Grey is the hottest color right now, so I just can’t wait to see it all come together! I am excited to start designing the invite! Being that the Olympics are one month after her wedding, I sure hope there is not a bunch of construction going on!! Erin Hearts Court will be capturing her most beautiful day, which we are so excited to do!

These beauties were printed by no other then the wonderful company Spark! Ladies, if you are a DIY bride and designed your invites yourself but want to have them letterpress printed, Spark is the best. They are affordable and truly a pleasure to work with. Oops! Did I just promote DIY invites? What am I doing to my business?! ;) No worries –I still print on my own but some projects I like to send out.
