This year we decided to do something a little different with our company holiday card. The card was hand letterpressed on extra heavy cardstock, tri-fold. On each panel the year was illustrated in a timeline fashion, giving you a glimpse into the world at Wiley Valentine. There were fun anecdotes about each employee, along with matching illustrations. The response was so great, many clients are wanting to adapt this same idea to other types of paper delights. Stay tuned for the evolution!
I did this invite for a really sweet couple in Michigan. The colors she chose are awesome — red, soft caramel brown, & aqua, for an October wedding in Costa Rica. Very similar to my own invites, I have to just love them!! I guess my swirls are very popular. It makes it fun when I get to put my own doodle for many years into a wedding invite!
Enjoy. These are letterpresses with a tear off rsvp card underneath. The wax seal is a mendi flower. It is tied with twine and embroidery string.

Here are 3 invitation suites that I finished earlier this year. The first is for Lori & Clelio married May 31st. I received nothing but fantastic praise from her and her guests.
This 2 piece suite had an invite on top, and the reply underneath is a tear off postcard. All are a 2 color letterpress, and the envelope is a 100% recycled kraft paper with a handmade Lokta Nepalese paper of soft white vines on a blush color. This suite had matching escort cards and the calligraphy was done by Jill Velez.
The bride’s dress had a vine embroidery so it fit perfectly.
Here is a design for a recent wedding in Scotland.
This was originally the design for their June wedding save the date, but the couple decided to move the date up and we changed it to the invite! But it turned out absolutely beautiful.
As it needed to be completed in about 10 days and I already had plans for Thanksgiving in AZ, I actually had to send this out to get letterpress printed to Spark Letterpress Printing Company. This is my first design I have not printed myself.
However, it felt really good to just design and POOF it came back all done. I loved it. No stressing over the printer, no crazy ink mixing, no crying, no sore leg or sore arms…. I think I might do this more often for the bigger jobs for sure. I can take on more volume this way too. It does feel weird to not have printed it all myself, but I must say I am proud of the design!! More designing, more clients…. I can also do more challenging designs that I couldn’t print myself. This is a good thing!
The image on the top is a drawing of the venue in which they will be married. It’s so pretty on the lake surrounded by mountains. The hydrangea and the Scottish thistle design on the back are to represent her and him (he is Scottish). I wanted to pull in the casual rustic feel they were going after by doing a stitching all around the invite, giving it a bit of softness.
Emily bought us each one of these amazing vintage wallpaper press stamps the other day from an antique store. They are hand carved from Switzerland, and they even still have the ink on them which I LOVE! They are uneven on the sides so as to allow the pattern to match when stamping.

It’s fun to see how the custom process, or WV Couture experience works. In this example Julia, the bride to be, sent me some photos that she found inspiring, along with the couple’s likes, hobbies, passions, and the story of how they met. When a bride comes to you with that much vision, it is very inspiring. We begun with an inspiration board I put together along with some concepts.
Julia received her undergrad degree in art history, and both the bride and the groom are Italian. The overall design we ended up with utilized a Baroque “V” for her new last name. The letter was so decorative that at times it was just an abstract design, and at times you could really see the “V”, which worked really well for a great overall look without being too matchy matchy. The entire invitation suite was hand letterpressed utilizing a deep navy, chocolate and blind impressions.
