Chelsea Petaja, Nashville Vendor: Hair Accessories Website: Oh My Deer! About Me: "Oh, My Deer!" was born out of a love for play-on-words and getting my hands dirty. I live in Music City USA in a little loft with brick walls, concrete floors and my husband. I teach Visual Arts at a Montessori school that grows organic vegetables and composts nearly everything. It satisfies the hippie in me. I make flowers and feathers for your hair that I hope make you feel beautiful. Sometimes I make drawings and invitations for your eyes. And then that leaves everything in between that I pretend to know how to do.
About ohmydeer
Two weekends ago, Tec and I spent a few days in Atlanta to visit my parents and to attend the launch party for the new Southern Weddings magazine. So I splurged on a clearance dress (which should be an oxymoron…) from Anthropologie, pulled on a pair of grey hand-me-down cowboy boots from my mom, and whipped up a pretty little lady for my hair. Of course Tec looked just as handsome as he always does… without spending a penny on new clothes. Go figure.

Princess Lasertron, Omaha Vendor: Flowers made of felt, vintage buttons and other ephemera Website: Princess Lasertron About Me: I started Princess Lasertron in 2005 creating custom bouquets out of felt, vintage buttons, and other ephemera. I give each bride an heirloom-quality piece that will bring a personal dimension to their wedding and everyday lives. What I love most is meeting and collaborating with unique women whose weddings are a true representation of them and their partners. As for me...I live nocturnally, I'm an INTP, I play Dungeons and Dragons every other Saturday, and I'm a perpetual student.

Not Another One!

Blueprint, Country Home, Cottage Living, Teen Vogue, House & Garden… now Domino Magazine is on its way out too. The magazine is folding according to NYMag.com. So sad to see the end of another great design magazine that has brought so much inspiration to so many of us.

R.I.P., Domino. You were my favorite–prettier than Lucky and cheaper than Vogue Living.

The main channels for design ideas and resources are really going to the blogs. We do exist in kind of a symbiotic relationship with magazines, though–bloggers get new and exciting ideas from the magazines, and magazines gather fresh, as-it-happens observations from industry professionals in the blogosphere. In other words, we need each other!

About ohmydeer
I'm so pumped to finally share this good news with all of you! If you're in Washington, be sure to pick up your copy of Seattle Metropolitan: Bride & Groom! I feel so honored to be a part of such a stunning publication. Honestly, I'd characterize this magazine as the Blueprint (R.I.P.) of wedding magazines; the fonts, the layouts,
oh my!

About ohmydeer

Since many of you sweethearts aren't able purchase a copy of your very own Southern Weddings at your local bookstore, here's the spread that the Huz and I were featured in. The entire magazine is beautiful, and full of other stunning weddings. I mean, 52 real weddings… in ONE issue? It's like a magazine full of the best the blog world has to offer.

About ohmydeer

While Tec and I are on our two-week sabbatical from all things work related, we've tried our darnedest to stay away from the computer, email, phone, bla-bla-bla. But after receiving this email from Emily, we had to investigate further:

“oh my goodness…i just saw you and tec on the front of southern weddings…congrats!!! you guys look beautiful…how exciting for you both!”

What?! After immediately getting in touch with her, she informed us that our ugly mugs were on the premiere magazine cover for Southern Weddings! We'd been in contact with an editor at the magazine, but after submitting our interview responses, we hadn't heard what they would be used for… well, viola!

According to the blog: You will be able to find us in Hawaii, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, California, Iowa as well as all of the Southern states! So be sure to snatch up your copy of the magazine if you're lucky enough to find one on the book shelves. And though the magazine won't be officially released until the 6th, apparently some retailers got a little slap-happy and have already put them out! So, so fun…

When we're back in Nashville, I'll try to pick one up to share with y'all. Let me know if you're able to get your grubby little hands on one!

Much love, and a happy New Year!
