About Mrs. Bee @ Weddingbee PRO

On Press.

I’ve been meaning to update our press page, so I thought I’d share the highlights of Weddingbee press to date!

  • Blogging Your Way into a Business - NY Times, 8/12/07.  This was our first mention in a major newspaper or magazine, and I was so excited!  They do a profile on me and several other bloggers who turned their blogs into businesses.

  • Get Married, 1/16/08. A segment I taped for a special blogging episode of the television show Get Married aired on the WE network.

  • Modern Bride Magazine - Dec/Jan Issue. Modern Bride Magazine named Weddingbee one of the 50 Best Websites to check out.

  • With This Dress I Thee Wed and Wed and Wed - NY Times, 1/31/09. This article focused on buying secondhand wedding dresses, and one of our users shared her experience scoring a Jim Hjelm dress for 40% off retail on the Weddingbee Classifieds.

  • Blog Watch - Wall Street Journal 2/16/09.  Weddingbee got a little write-up in the Blog Watch section of the Journal.

  •  Wedding Bells’ Toll - NY Times, 3/14/09.  I was invited to attend a special wedding edition of the Martha Stewart Show, where I was introduced to the writer of this article.  I have a fun little quote about wedding gift etiquette and affordable wedding gifts.

In our first year, I thought about working with a pr agency, but I never really pursued it.  It wasn’t in our nonexistent budget anyway.  We’ve been lucky that we’ve never done any advertising, and Weddingbee has continued to grow by word of mouth.

It’s difficult to determine how much press actually affects a business both directly and indirectly.  I can’t say that any of these mentions has had a significant impact traffic-wise, but press begets press.  As you can see most of our press mentions have been in 2009, so hopefully there are many more exciting things in store for Weddingbee this year. :)

Has a pr agency or a particular piece of press changed your business?
