Umm… yeah. My job really doesn’t get much easier than this. And to top it off, aside from fitting together like puzzle pieces without any encouragement from me, they are about the loveliest two people I have had the pleasure to meet. Eugene met Jane when he was about to take a job in San Diego. He lived in DC, she lived in NYC, and he was moving to California. But as the weeks went by, he realized that there was a bigger opportunity for him in NYC - Jane. So he turned down the job that his father had lined up for him, but obviously it was the right choice. Knowing myself what it’s like to leave the person you belong with to live 3000 miles away, and seeing how much he and Jane belong together, well… he made a good choice.
Thank you, for the (the best Sicilian) pizza (in Brooklyn!), beer and sharing yourselves (on camera and off!). It was my favorite kind of engagement session. The kind that makes me goofy with excitement about weddings and all.
This was a very special wedding for me. I hadn’t ever met Christina before. She was the first person ever to book me for 2008, my very first year in this wonderful business. But it turns out, not only are she and Mike gorgeous, their love of each other runs so thick it’s tactile. I was in LOVE with her Monique Lhuillier dress, and he looked unbelievable in his Ralph Lauren suit and opera pumps. The Atlantica was amazing, and they married among the soft serene sounds of the nearby ocean, buffered by a small field of tall growing grasses. It was so picturesque, so obscenely perfect and lovely, so unbelievably rich between these two seriously amazing people that I felt I barely had to look through the view finder, because whatever was there was what I ached to capture. So this is a long post. Thank you SO MUCH, Mike and Christina for entrusting me with your amazing day before anyone else did. Thank you for being amazing, and for sharing your amazing families with me. Thank you for being you!!

It’s been a great pleasure coming to know Emily and Bobby. This engagement session is something like what I imagine an engagement session would have been like with Husbone and I, had we had engagement session photos done. It was so awesome! They picked me up at noon on Sunday, and we made a trek across Long Island to frolic in fields found by the side of the road. We emerged from the expressway in a land fraught with corn mazes, vineyards across the street from shopping centers, and great expanses of flat fields, punctured in the distance by cauliflower shaped trees that had not yet assumed the full characteristics of the fall season. After a lazy lunch of red wine and Spanish cheese at the GORGEOUS Spanish hacienda style Raphael Vineyards, we made our way around the area (someone get married there so I can shoot it!), jumping out of the car at our whimsy. Mostly goofiness, and a little bit of violence ensued. There might have been some name calling, but it was all in good fun. There occurred cartwheels, ear pulling, air attacks, grape throwing, and a little bit of sighing and kissing. And now, I am so excited to see what these two will bring when we frolic the Isle of St. Maarten for their wedding in May!
It was hard to take my camera off these two. And it wasn’t only because they were done up real nice in pretty colors, and that they were absolutely gorgeous, but because of Rupal’s amazing laugh and the way they looked at each other. This is such a special day, she kept saying. I know Indian weddings have the general propensity to be rather large in their attendance… but what a sense of family… the sense of joining two families together. And 300 or so people mostly talked about what great hearts these two have. It was an honor and a pleasure to take part in the wedding, and to do my part in capturing it. Pretty…

I don’t even know where to start with a post about Colleen and Jimmy’s wedding. I had been looking forward to their wedding for over a year, since shooting their engagement photos at Coney Island last August after they won the engagement photo contest giveaway of 2007. If you go back and read those two posts I think you will see why they hold a special place in my heart. I felt like I knew them so well already and of course had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy’s family last summer. Over the past year Colleen and I had exchanged many, many emails about the wedding planning, the gown, the flowers, etc… To see it all come together was awesome.
And the wedding day was a blast. Fun. Funny at times (I could do an entire post on the limo ride over to the ceremony itself!). Emotional. Joyful. A few tears. A little bit of nervousness. Lots of friends and family, tons of hugs and kisses. Thank you both again for letting me be a part of your wedding. You both deserve only the best. Enjoy!
Laure and Tom married on Halloween at City Hall. Sadly I couldn’t be there because I was flying back from the land of giants. But I sure wish I was there when they threw a Prom Night themed Halloween Party in which they totally surprised all of their friends by making the announcement that they were wed! So, on a Saturday morning, though I was a touch weary from travel, I wrenched myself from my toasty bed and made my way up through the state, to their country home in Woodstock. Shocks of reds and yellows shot up from the ground like fireworks; sprinkled among them were blue evergreens, and their amazing 200 year old house that I just couldn’t stop drooling over.
I so very much LOVED this session. Their friends Damien and Alyssa shot some Super 8 for a while, which I was so excited to see!! I LOVE Super 8, and I love people who know how awesome it is, too! Laure is from Singapore, and her good friend Martine was along to take some (pretty amazing) polariods to document the whole experience. And then of course, back at home was Carey, visiting from Seattle, with her very young and expressive son, Wilder. Laure and Tom were kind enough to invite me over for dinner, to which I very happily obliged, longing for the warmth of meat and conversation over these chilly, darkened days. Damien cooked and unbelievable leg of lamb with roasted roots. Everyone there just gave me such a warm and fuzzy feeling. Thank you so much guys, for inviting me into your beautifully amazing home, giving me the opportunity to make pictures of your love in such a beautiful land, and for feeding me (figuratively and literally!).

My friend Andy, the best actor I’ve ever known - seriously we all knew in high school he was going to be famous; he just has that star quality and is obscenely talented - was interested in learning a bit more about photography. In giving him my 2 cents, I realized that this was something I wanted to share with the masses, and what better way than to make it blog-o-fied.

its a long walk back to eden.., originally uploaded by _rebekka.
This is an image taken by my most favorite photographer, Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir (I totally copied and pasted that from a Google search!). She is from Iceland, she is in her 20’s, and she is self taught. At her roots she is an artist, and her compositions are flooring. A long time ago, I saw this image, and in my photographical youth, I couldn’t imagine for the life of me how she did this. She looks surreal, apart from the image. The exposure is just so… balanced. But in a weird way. The light around her is so dynamic, so full of depth, but it seems like the light on her looks a bit… shallow, I guess.

They were born 10 months apart, and grew up just a couple of miles from each other. But Geeta and Matt never found each other until they both found themselves studying abroad in England. They became best friends, and soon fell in love. They married outside on the terrace, and as the sun set in the west, they were united. The sun set behind them, and I was giddy with golden hues. Yum.
Venue: Stage Six at Steiner Studios

I thought I’d start by sharing the story of when my husband and I shaved our heads together - it was an amazing bonding experience! I woke up on July 1st of this year, and I didn’t know my Husbone was going to shave my head. Husbone woke up that morning, and he didn’t know I was going to shave his head. But somehow it happened, and we took the leap together. (I think it’s more of a leap for me because I’m a girl, but whatever!) And as lock after lock fell down upon my shoulders, and the crucial parts of my do parted ways with me, a riveting feeling stole through me, and I felt more connected to this wonderful man than I ever have. I suppose it’s not for everyone, but I highly recommend it!
Also, there are all these cool breezes wafting around my head I never knew about! I feel awesome! And Husbone thinks I never looked better. Which is why I keep him around.

We’re super excited to announce the latest PRO to join the hive, the super talented photographer Punam Bean! It’s hard to believe that Punam has only been in the business for 1 1/2 years, because her work is absolutely stunning — she is a true up and comer in the industry!
I was first introduced to Punam’s work when Weddingbee’s Mrs. Tulip posted pictures from her November 07 engagement session with Punam; I’ve been in love with her work ever since! Here are some shots from that day. And stay tuned for Punam’s intro post later today!
