Here’s a wedding that Aubrey and Blake shot recently at the Pulgas Water Temple. Kristi and Anthony had a very small intimate wedding with a handful of their friends and family. I think the whole thing lasted no longer than two hours! So glad that Aubrey and Blake got to share in their day and capture these great photos. Who knew water temples could look so cool.

Maria + Alvin are a sweet couple that found us all the way from San Francisco! In fact, we will be shooting their wedding at the beginning of August there. They made a trip down to SoCal and booked an engagement session with us, and since they were in San Diego we decided to shoot at Balboa Park. There is something that most photographers love about this location, for me I feel like it brings out my romantic side. I really felt like it fit Maria + Alvin very well.

I am sitting here at 3:30 in the morning, and I can’t stop editing these images. Ada and Ben are awesome, to begin with, so I had a sneaking suspicion that today, the day of their wedding, was just going to be out of control with awesomeness. And. It. Was.
It was such a gift to be able to witness these two, amazing families totally and wholly embrace each other. Ada’s father gave the best wedding speech I’ve ever heard and was met with a standing ovation. There was such a hum of enthusiasm at this wedding, and it was a true sign that everyone couldn’t be more excited that these two remarkable people found each other.
Love was hemorrhaging from everyone all over the friggin’ place. But it was nothing to the way Ada and Ben look at each other, like the maid of honor mentioned in her speech. They look at each other as if they’ve found their perfect match.
I feel privileged to know them, and to have been chosen for the noble task of making pictures of their abundant love for each other, their families and their friends.

Elizabeth and Jason met at a networking event in Michigan after Jason had just moved there from DC. Ironically, Elizabeth was planning on attending grad school in DC, and Jason followed her there just 8 months later. They returned to Maine, where Elizabeth grew up, for their seaside nuptials with 75 close friends and family. It was a perfect setting for Emilie Inc. associate Whitney’s second wedding (with a little help from J).

Does anyone use disposable cameras anymore? I hope not. Not when just about everyone has a digital camera.
The downfall of digital cameras is that they trap photos. How many photos do you have on your computer that you’ve never bothered to print? (I have thousands. Literally.)
And when it comes to weddings, you can bet that many of the photos that your snap-happy guests take during your wedding will never be shared. That’s why you need a DIY Photo Download Station! All you need is a laptop, a card reader, and someone willing to man the station.
That’s what Nikki, who hails from Calgary, Alberta, did at her May 2008 wedding. She and her groom didn’t want any of their guests’ photos getting away, so they set up their laptop at the reception and had Nikki’s aunt man the “download station.”
I met Lin + Jonathan through their sweet wedding coordinator Carolyn Chen from The Special Day, Inc. I always feel so flattered when wedding coordinators refer me, because I realize the large amounts of vendors coordinators work with on a day-to-day basis and to be referred among the many is a huge deal in my eyes!
Lin + Jonathan were married on May 16 at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. The weather was slightly overcast, but ended up working to our advantage. Justin and I had a great day with this sweet couple. We didn’t really know what to expect since the couple had been traveling from China, and we weren’t able to book an engagement session, so we were super happy with the day’s turn-out at the end of the night. Here are some of the highlights from their wedding day:

Lyndsay and Andrew were chosen as one of two couples for a destination wedding promotion through Weddingbee from a couple of years ago (the second couple had their wedding in Jamaica).
Worth noting, Lyndsay and Andrew were scheduled to have their wedding at another resort which has been under renovation for some time. They were promised it would be ready for their nuptials (you see where this is going…). A month before the wedding, they flew from their home in Baltimore to Florida to have one final look and it was disastrous - no waitstaff, no liquor license- no kitchen! Not even door knobs into the ballroom! Luckily, they were able to secure Beachside, a glorious new resort that had just opened (the hotel rooms are high-end condos).
On to the pictures (there are a lot of them!)…
Lyndsay and her very fun mom Lana, had their hair done at a very sweet beauty/clothing shop in town. The experience, unfortunately, was unsatisfactory so I am not going to post the name.

I met Caroline and Sung Ho in my favorite part of Brooklyn, an interlude of work in the midst of my minimoon with the Husbone, who had just returned from an epic 6 week journey across England. Caroline and Sung Ho turned out to be pretty much the easiest people to photograph ever, and then the evening made way to reveal itself as a double date over drinks and great conversation. I am so enamored with these two very lovely people, and for all that we have in common. I’m happy I met them. I was also lucky enough to have been chosen by Sung Ho’s amazing sister for her wedding too, and I can’t wait to hang with everyone again in June!
Lately, I’ve been going on an urban photo safari kick. Meagan and Sperry were up for anything and anywhere for their session, which is my favorite type of shoot. We basically drove down the street and stopped by all the cool and interesting spots my eye could catch. I love doing this, because they all the spots are unique and full of cool textures.
It was a fun engagement session with them, but I think Lulu stole the show. I can rant on all day about why I like dogs and pets in photos, but I think it’s best to let the pics do that for me. Lulu was a star!

Some weddings you just walk away from really appreciating your family. When you’re there and witness the gratefulness and love that is shown towards family, you can’t help but think about your own. That’s how I felt at Rob and Kelun’s wedding.
Their wedding in Carmel was just as beautiful and meaningful as their love towards their family. Our favorite part was the band that they had, Huckleberry Flint. Oh and we love shooting in art museums. Something about the environment that I really like that I can’t quite put my finger on. Hmmmm.
