About Mrs. Bee

This is a secret I’ve kept to myself since January when Antonia Van der Meer, editor in chief of Modern Bride magazine, called me to let me know that I was one of Modern Bride’s 2009 Trendsetters!  It was definitely one of the most exciting moments of my life!  Other trendsetters this year include event designer Colin Cowie, hair accessories guru Jennifer Behr, and jewelry designer Ivanka Trump (who is actually featured on the same page I am)!

We had an all day photo shoot to capture this shot, and I have oodles of behind the scenes pictures and details to share with you in an upcoming post.  There is even a red carpet, celebrity filled awards dinner coming up soon, and Preston Bailey (a previous trendsetter) is going to present my award. Someone please pinch me!!

I couldn’t feel more honored to be included amongst the ranks of all of these amazing trendsetters, past and present.  Thank you so much Modern Bride for making my year!

If you want to get yourself a copy, it’s the June/July issue on newsstands now! :)

On Press.

March 18th, 2009 @ 6:34 pm by Mrs. Bee @ Weddingbee PRO

I’ve been meaning to update our press page, so I thought I’d share the highlights of Weddingbee press to date!

  • Blogging Your Way into a Business - NY Times, 8/12/07.  This was our first mention in a major newspaper or magazine, and I was so excited!  They do a profile on me and several other bloggers who turned their blogs into businesses.

  • Get Married, 1/16/08. A segment I taped for a special blogging episode of the television show Get Married aired on the WE network.

  • Modern Bride Magazine - Dec/Jan Issue. Modern Bride Magazine named Weddingbee one of the 50 Best Websites to check out.

  • With This Dress I Thee Wed and Wed and Wed - NY Times, 1/31/09. This article focused on buying secondhand wedding dresses, and one of our users shared her experience scoring a Jim Hjelm dress for 40% off retail on the Weddingbee Classifieds.

  • Blog Watch - Wall Street Journal 2/16/09.  Weddingbee got a little write-up in the Blog Watch section of the Journal.

  •  Wedding Bells’ Toll - NY Times, 3/14/09.  I was invited to attend a special wedding edition of the Martha Stewart Show, where I was introduced to the writer of this article.  I have a fun little quote about wedding gift etiquette and affordable wedding gifts.

In our first year, I thought about working with a pr agency, but I never really pursued it.  It wasn’t in our nonexistent budget anyway.  We’ve been lucky that we’ve never done any advertising, and Weddingbee has continued to grow by word of mouth.

It’s difficult to determine how much press actually affects a business both directly and indirectly.  I can’t say that any of these mentions has had a significant impact traffic-wise, but press begets press.  As you can see most of our press mentions have been in 2009, so hopefully there are many more exciting things in store for Weddingbee this year. :)

Has a pr agency or a particular piece of press changed your business?

Happy March, beautiful readers! This year is off to a great start, to say the least. March is one of my favorite months of the year, due in no small part to my birthday. ;-) I'm looking forward to some lovely upcoming celebrations…

So I return bearing more good news. More accurately, I have THRILLING, fabulous, utterly fantastic news. The title says it all, but here is the full disclosure…

I am elated to announce that my mother's opulent, luxurious, detail-laden wedding was PUBLISHED! How exciting, right?? I got the news only a few days ago, and was able to pick up the magazine over the weekend. Check your local newsstand for Issue 5 (spring 2009) of Ines del Mar Weddings and turn to p.112 for four (yes, four!) pages of Trista Lerit's delicious imagery! The wedding was submitted by my fab friend in the biz, ultra-talented florist Camilla Svensson-Burns. She never heard back from the magazine but heard through the grapevine that it had made it into the issue! Crazy! The magazine showcases absolutely gorgeous events, and Mom's is the only California real wedding in the issue. Mom & Raj were so delighted! Anna & I also make an appearance on p. 11 for a cute family photo. I will try to get some scans for you later this week, but here's a pic of the cover of this issue:

If you missed the original post on my mom's wedding, you can see all the gorgeousness HERE.

Hope you all are having a fabulous week so far! xoxo, Angel

leighmiller's Picture
Leigh Miller, Coronado, CA Vendor: Photographer Website: Leigh Miller Photography About Me: People often ask me how I got my start in wedding photography. The truth is i fell into it. Almost by accident. But after my first wedding I was sold. I moved full force ahead. And within a year I went full-time leaving behind my life as a therapist and social worker. And the rest, as they say, is history. In November I celebrated my 3rd year of being a full-time photographer! Today, I feel so blessed to get to do something I love and to work with amazing couples all over the country and world! I have traveled to the Bahamas, Jamaica, all over Mexico and all the way to England to shoot weddings. I live in southern California with my husband, two sons, two really loud birds and a short, fat yellow lab named Mrs. Jones. All, at various times, make an appearance on my blog.
About leighmiller

and a great big thank you to The Knot. Lindsay and Hank's Cabo San Lucas wedding is featured in the Spring/Summer edition of The Knot national magazine! This is pretty exciting news as this issue will be sold all over the country and on bookstore shelves through July. Pick one up if you have a chance! :)

Southern Weddings Magazine!

February 6th, 2009 @ 4:56 pm by Punam Bean

I'm a little late posting this, but so super excited about it! As most of you probably know, I've only been in this business a little over a year (feels like 5!), and I'm so excited to announce my very first publication, in the very first publication of Southern Weddings Magazine! That's my little old picture of Tiffany and Jared's fabulous rings, atop a fabulous mushroom I found growing on the patio of their hotel room (bottom left!). I suppose Jamaica's pretty far south!

Congratulations to the lovelies over at Southern Weddings Magazine! It's so exciting! And if you haven't yet, be sure to check out their blog. It's one of my most favorite wedding blogs!

ohmydeer's Picture
Chelsea Petaja, Nashville Vendor: Hair Accessories Website: Oh My Deer! About Me: "Oh, My Deer!" was born out of a love for play-on-words and getting my hands dirty. I live in Music City USA in a little loft with brick walls, concrete floors and my husband. I teach Visual Arts at a Montessori school that grows organic vegetables and composts nearly everything. It satisfies the hippie in me. I make flowers and feathers for your hair that I hope make you feel beautiful. Sometimes I make drawings and invitations for your eyes. And then that leaves everything in between that I pretend to know how to do.
About ohmydeer
I'm so pumped to finally share this good news with all of you! If you're in Washington, be sure to pick up your copy of Seattle Metropolitan: Bride & Groom! I feel so honored to be a part of such a stunning publication. Honestly, I'd characterize this magazine as the Blueprint (R.I.P.) of wedding magazines; the fonts, the layouts,
oh my!
