Lara + Tim’s wedding was glamorous with an English nautical twist! Okay… I admit it, I’m trying too hard to describe their awesome wedding day because the usual “awesome” just doesn’t do it justice! Lara + Tim’s wedding perfectly followed the feel of their engagement session with a by-the-sea-sailing theme. This was just right for them because Lara + Tim both have a passion for the ocean and sailing. They were married on August 22nd at the Trinity Baptist Church in Santa Monica (recognize this church, Father of the Bride was shot at this same church!) and had a sweet reception that followed at The California Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey.
Could this beautiful wedding in Fairfax at the Meadow Club, photographed by Cliff Brunk, be the wedding of this year. This is Wedding #1 - In the Meadow, featuring green orchids, hydrangea, mini callas, fiddlehead, dahlias, ’super green’ roses, pom pom mums, and dark foliage. Details included birds, bird nest ring bearer pillow, haystacks, a vintage car, and floral motif. Invitations by Hello! Lucky. Rentals and lighting by Hartmann Studios. Photography by Brunk Photography. Floral and Event Design by Nancy Liu Chin Designs.

When I mentioned at Betty’s wedding that I might have to do a blog post only about all her amazing shoes, I was kidding. Until I got the film back from the lab. We arrived a bit early at the ranch in Hawaii, and I went a little shoe crazy. But I think that’s one of the many reasons Betty and I get along so well (other than that she lights up every room she walks into!).
SHOES!
Marissa and I go way back. I can’t count the number of times we pulled all-nighters together to finish our AP US History essays for our favorite high-school teacher, Mr. Doyle. We were hard-core study buddies and I could always count on her to be up at 2am to answer a question that I had. So it was a no brainer for me to want to shoot her wedding on the Princeton Campus. I’ve never been to New Jersey or visited an ivy league school, so it was an exciting trip.
The best part of it was the mini-reunion that I had with my high-school friends. It was also an added bonus that I got to see Marissa’s family again, because I spent so many days at their house during our crazy study sessions. I had heard a lot about James through Marissa and her sister, Annie, so it was good to finally put a face to the name. His family was also so sweet to us and treated us so well. I loved every minute of my trip out there and can’t wait to go back to the East Coast to visit everyone again.

Alicia + Joey: full of life, character, and color! I already expected their wedding to be just this after the few hours we spent with them while shooting their engagement session. August 21st was an awesome day for a wedding, and it just so happened that it was the only day in the middle of the summer that it rained in San Diego. The old saying of “rain means good luck on your wedding day” must be true because Alicia + Joey are two of a kind!

We are huge fans of Silvana di Franco photography, so when she sent over this amazing wedding luncheon she recently shot, I was so excited to share. Of course it helps to have an amazingly talented photographer such as Silvana, however an utterly chic bride and groom doesn’t hurt either. The luncheon took place at the Harvest Moon Cafe in Sonoma, and they took care of the food and that amazing cake. I adore the simple yet amazingly gorgeous vibe this event had, and it shows that a luncheon reception can absolutely be fabulous and chic.

The outdoor reception with wildflower centerpieces was so perfect to complete the look. The decor and details were DIY by the bride. WOW! This is a completely different approach to DIY than what we are seeing so much of these days and I absolutely adore it! Very sophisticated yet still personal.
Christa and Tim actually got spontaneously officially married a few months before the scheduled day. They won a free wedding at a pop up chapel in Brooklyn (no, no that one!), and made a mad dash of putting a surprise wedding together for all their friends. This was their other, preplanned, everyone knew they were getting married wedding. The details were phenomenal, as to be expected from Christa and her impeccable attention to detail. Also, I am kind of in love with Tim’s son, Oliver, who lives in England. There is nothing cuter than an already cute 10 year old in a bow tie with an English accent, calling things knickers and such. This wedding was so much fun, so entirely their personality, and Husbone and I felt right at home. The details were amazing, and I shot mucho film! Yay!
How cute are father and son matching Chucks!??
As I mentioned in my last post, here was the sneak peek. Erin and I went to Maine to help style, arrange flowers for the reception, do the tablescapes and well… photograph our great friend’s wedding. We had a blast!!
I wanted to share with you some photos. You can see the whole story of the days and more pics from the wedding and day after shoot we did over on our blog here and here. Some of the flowers were wild flowers pick around the property, with a others delivered the morning of from a local farmer. I had NO idea of what flowers I was going to be working with, but it turned out great.
I rummaged the land for fun pieces of bark to lay on the table too. I used old Ball jar lids as the tea light base, and burlap for the runners with a cross pattern of different fabrics and and extra flags (used for the bunting banners) as little placemats. Each table had a different metal letter on it that spelled out LOBSTER; so cute. The wedding was so much fun to style, attend, and photograph.
You saw their engagement session , now experience the wedding of Danah + Ahmad. The lovely couple was married on August 15th at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel . If we had only two words to describe this wedding, it would be "simply classic". With white as their only wedding color, Danah’s simple white dress, and Ahmad’s classic black suit, it was truly a breath of fresh air. Danah’s dress will definitely go down as one of the top ten wedding dresses we’ve ever laid eyes on, and Ahmad’s black suit was bold and timeless!
As many of you probably know, Jesi Haack is one of my favorite wedding planners to work with… her designs, personality, and professionalism make her a fabulous find in the wedding industry! I was so excited when she and I were able to work together on Jessica’s wedding! I had the pleasure of getting to know Jessica previously at events at The White Dress in Corona Del Mar. Jessica is a manager there and has had us come and sample our yummy treats for their clients on various occasions. This is a special store for me since it is where I got my fabulous wedding dress a couple years ago. So as you can tell, I was doubly excited to work on this wedding since it was for people I knew! Jesi did an amazing job with the design for the wedding and I thought I would share some words from her blog that described the event…
“When Jessica, manager of The White Dress in CDM, hired me to design and plan her wedding, I squealed at the opportunity! Besides the fact that Jess & Eric are BEAUTIFUL people, they have such a clean, classy, modern style. My favorite part was that Jess gave me FULL reign so my crazy mind was whirling! The only thing they insisted on was having a cocktail party style of event with lots of EATING, DRINKING, and DANCING! We were working with a tight budget, so it was so fun pushing through the challenge and thinking outside the box… and outside the box is my favorite place to be! My AMAZING team created 500+ paper flowers to flood this event with style and sass.”
