Weddingbee PRO
It has been a very exciting couple of weeks thanks to Weddingbee Pro and Martha Stewart Weddings. I have been sewing, photographing, packing and shipping pillows. Sometimes, when I run out of room on my tiny orange table, I have to move on to the floor — but I don't recommend this if you have a small child. Ours loves tissue paper, and when I'm about to do a fold his little hands can't help but to tear it all up, and I have to start all over again. Oooh Mikus! 
I am thrilled to post this “Day of the Dead” ring pillow! It is a summer wedding happening in June in Fairbanks, Alaska. The theme -a Mexican folk art, Dia De Los Muertos, traditional and modern with a vintage touch — how cool is that?
Chantial and Eric are from the beautiful state of Michigan. She is of Mexican descent and Eric is American. They are a couple excited to tie the knot and doing a lot for their wedding themselves. They made their stationary, and Chantial is screen-printing the linen napkins for the reception!
Inspirations:
Sorry for blogging only one posting a week for Miss Popcorn's amusement park pillow but believe me it is totally worth the wait! This part looked like it was going to be a piece of cake, but I had to play around with different shapes and sizes quite a bit. I wasn't sure how I was going to give the illusion that it gets smaller from afar or how the flags were going to look in front of the sky trolley.
Anyway, I think it works and it's always fun trying something new. The party flags were sewn with white thread and they go across the pillow. Next week, you'll be able to see the flower cluster, and then I'll be posting the final piece!!
Here's a question for you! What color ring ribbon would you like to see on this pillow: red, yellow or blue?
I'm a bit exhausted from all the walking I did at the National Stationery Show and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. I need a foot massage! The show had some great new vendors exhibiting and some old friends I hadn't seen in few years since my hable days. Also, at the show I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Bee and Cynthia from Bella Figura! Ladies, it was lovely visiting with you! 
So, here are more pictures of Miss Popcorn's vintage amusement park pillow. The very first piece sewn was the ferris wheel. Now, the second piece is the carousel pavilion, and it has some beading touches. I'm not showing the whole piece because I don't want to ruin it for Miss Popcorn, and I want to keep you in suspense.

It's been a while since I last posted on my work. I have been a busy bee these days. I have orders coming in and pillows going out. My magic corner has turned into a little factory, and I may have to put my baby son to work soon.
There are some lovely and exciting wedding themes I have the pleasure to design for, and I look forward to sharing the pillows and their stories with you soon!
So, I have some photos of the beginning stages of Miss Popcorn's vintage amusement park pillow!
So, all the votes are in for the amusement park theme ring pillow, and #1 is clearly the winner! This was also Miss Popcorn's choice when I sent her the sketches. She got back to me with an answer right away. I showed it to my husband and mother-in-law Barbara, and they also picked #1. My husband actually helped me narrow it down to the two drawings from a group I had. It's great to have a second set of eyes at home other than my own when doing creative work. I can get too critical, and/or I start going in circles -he is a huge help.
So, usually after the future bride and I exchange some thoughts and I look over details, I start sketching. This is the fun part; where I go crazy with the marker. Then, I have to edit it down to 2 sketches to send over to the bride, so she can choose the one she likes.
Here are two pillow ideas for Miss Popcorn's vintage amusement park wedding. I love the whole concept behind this celebration. The stationary, favors, games, decorations and the reception in the bumper car pavilion tie it all together.
Both pillows include a carousel pavilion and a ferris wheel. The carousel pavilion at Glen Echo Park is very, very beautiful, and during my research, I ran into tons of photographs that people have taken while visiting the park. The pillows will also have little party flags; this comes at the request of Miss Popcorn, who will be making pennants to decorate nearly 300 feet of ceiling surface. Unique touches like that is what makes your wedding that much more special, and your guests will treasure it.

When working on custom-made projects, I frequently get lost in design world, unable to stop sketching which sometimes even carries over to my dreams. This “problem” of mine most recently came at the hands of Pamela, who provided me with an entire world of inspiration -her very own wedding blog! Among many other things, her postings include: save-the-date cards, her wedding cake and the shoes she'll be wearing. What a clever, great thing wedding blogging is. I wish I had done something like this for my own wedding. It's a great way to keep things organized, especially for the husband and the wedding party, and it's so much fun at the same time!
Pamela and Conrad's wedding is a mix of vintage and elegance. They are to be wed in Chesapeake, VA, and their theme revolves around birds. The key elements behind the design include: an ivory bird cage to be used at the reception, roses in the neutral colors of cream, vanilla, ivory, white and taupe to go with the vintage look; little white bird cage boxes with goodies inside as party favors; and feathers and pearls. These are only a few of the details, but there are many more on her blog. Take a look to see what other ideas Pamela has up her sleeve, and be sure to check back with me because in a few weeks I'll be posting pictures of another piece I'm working on for Pamela.

1. The center pieces will be in plastic popcorn containers with yellow carnations to resemble popcorn -clever!
2. Retro wrapper Cracker Jacks or Hershey bars as party favors.
3. Her younger brother loves clowns, so he's going to dress up as a clown for the reception! And he is also the ring bearer!

Weddingbee and Llubav Co. held a contest for one lucky lady to have her very own custom made ring pillow. And the lucky winner is “Miss Popcorn”! We've had some time to visit via email about her wedding, and she's as excited as I am to get this project going. Miss Popcorn is kind enough to share her wedding site so we can all learn a little more about her and what she is planning for her big day.
I read the whole thing Miss and Mr. Popcorn are so cute! They are having their wedding in a vintage amusement park (love it!). So you know they're a fun, light-hearted, adventurous couple, and their wedding is sure to be fantastic.
