About Kristy @ Momental Designs

Lately I have been quite inspired by dots. Many of my wedding invitation designs feature a subtle painted dot here or there, but recently I have been fascinated with an elegant and innovative use of the dot concept. Recently I created an invitation ensemble for Loan that featured nearly 150 dots per invitation completely hand-painted in various swirl patterns. The look, while quite detailed, was sophisticated and dynamic. How else can dots be incorporated into a wedding celebration without looking too cutesy or typically whimsical? This was my question and here is what I discovered!

momental_designs955Soda bottles, Hand-Painted Invitation, Dot confetti, Felt Bouquet, Polka Dot Dress

Brightly colored soda bottles with cap labels - imagine a large display of these - definitely some dot impact there! Simple dot confetti could be the perfect detail to stuff in save the date envelopes or sprinkle on a reception table. Princess Lasserton’s hand-crafted felt bouquets certainly capture the polka dot vibe with each button detail she uses. A simple satin gown peppered with tiny dots - so pretty!

Kristin Brancaleone, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA Vendor: Floral Designer Website: The Treasured Petal About Me: The Treasured Petal is a reflection of my love for scrumptious flowers, yummy textures, colors, ribbons, and all the other girly splurges that being a florist allows me to enjoy on a daily basis. Although I don't discriminate when it comes to flowers, my two favorites would have to be cattleya orchids and gloriosa lilies, which I carried in a ginormous bouquet on my wedding day. When I'm not crafting wedding florals and consulting with brides, I am usually at the dog park with my dogs Pesto and Basil, cooking healthy vegan dinners, watching Seinfeld with my husband Joe, at Bible study, or scouring craigslist for antique furniture to fill up my new house. I am also kind of a home-body and really love sipping tea in my pajamas while working my way down my google reader blog list!

Showcase: Tablescapes

January 15th, 2009 @ 5:58 pm by Kristin @ The Treasured Petal

I was honored when Amanda of In The Now Weddings asked if I'd like to collaborate on a series of tablescapes for her website back in April. Amanda is a creative, detailed, and crafty girl with a million and one ideas swirling in her head. When she asked me to help, I was thinking, “Okay, three or four tables? I can do this!” Well, Amanda wowed me with 9 table setups, complete with their own custom favors, linens, napkins, menus, candles, silverware, and more. I was amazed to learn that she hand sewed many of the linens, sashes, etc. Talk about an overachiever! Best of all, no detail was random. Everything was thought-out, purposeful and consistent with the overall mood of each table. That is what I call great design.

This project gave me the chance to get creative with the florals and explore a ton of different styles. I also decided to use some flowers that I don't immediately flock to for weddings. Thank you to the fabulous Jonilyn for capturing the beautiful images of all the details. Jonilyn will do anything it takes to get the perfect shot, whether it's lying on her belly in the sand or standing on top of precariously shaking chairs on uneven grass to get the perfect bird's eye view. I was impressed!

Thanks also to Stephanie my talented assistant for helping me whip these up in just a few hours. Thanks also to my mom-in-law for the use of her front yard! :)

Here are 5 of my favorite centerpieces from the session…

Romantic: Black silk dupioni wrapped box filled to the brim with black bacarra roses, the most gorgeous red dahlias I've ever seen, and ruby red asiatic lilies. We added red and black speckled feathers for a flirty touch.

Vampire Chic

November 27th, 2008 @ 1:53 am by Wiley Valentine

In honor of Twilight the movie premiering today, I have put together a series of inspirations that are utterly vampire chic. If you haven't heard of Twilight, it's the teenage vampire book series by Stephenie Meyer that has become an obsession at the WV. I have put together some things that were inspired by the books, and also happened to be utterly gorgeous.
